The inspiration behind Max Patte's series of lightworks is a personal journey, in every sense. For the past decade, British-born Max has been working his adopted homeland of New Zealand. During his regular travels along the North Island's distinctive southern coastline, he was captivated by the constant tuning of colour and light. His evocative lightworks reflect this landscape - and other places encountered on his travels, including the life-transcending view from an airplane window. These experiences can be both wildly dramatic and precisely, exquisitely subtle.
Max Patte began experimenting with the light genre in 2014. “Haze” represents his latest body of work in the series. He studied at the Wimbledon School of Art in London, and was elected an Associate of the Royal Society of British Sculptors in 2008. This British-born artist has been based in New Zealand for the past 10 years, creating a body of work that includes both sculpture and lightworks. Having acquired corporate patrons and collectors throughout the world, Max debuted his first exhibition in London in 2016.
